Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida Health Insurance
Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) provides some of the most popular health insurance plans in Florida. The provider offers a variety of health insurance options to clients, allowing people to choose the amount of coverage they want.
Types of Blue Cross Blue Shield Health Insurance Plans in Florida
Blue Cross Blue Shield offers three types of plans to Florida residents. People can choose between BlueOptions PPO/EPO, BlueCare HMO, and BlueSelect PPO/EPO. Each plan consists of its own network of hospitals and physicians.
BlueOptions PPO/EPO contains the most extensive network of hospitals and providers. Enrollees will have access to more than 30,000 physicians, and they can also access out-of-network providers. This plan has a higher monthly premium than the other two plans provided by BCBS.
BlueCare HMO is considered the middle of the three plans. More than 29,000 doctors participate in the network. It’s important to stick with an in-network provider with this plan since out-of-network services are not covered. Exceptions are made for emergencies.
BlueSelect PPO/EPO is the bottom of the three plans. The network has more than 16,000 doctors, but it does offer out-of-network coverage for a variety of services. These services are covered in Florida and other states. This plan is the cheapest of the three.
Choosing a Pharmacy
Most pharmacies participate in all three Blue Cross Blue Shield health insurance plans. However, CVS, Navarro, and Target pharmacies are not part of the BCBS network. Enrollees can find available pharmacies when signing up online.
Florida Blue Cross Blue Shield Medicare Plans
Blue Cross Blue Shield in Florida also offers Medicare Plans. It offers RPPO, HMO, and PPO plans, along with prescription plans. Many of the plans include access to the Silver Sneakers Fitness Program. This program allows members to go to the gym for free.
