Maryland health insurance providers have requested an increase in plan rates for individuals and small groups. While individuals could see an increase between 18 and 58 perfect, small groups are seeing smaller increases, averaging 3 to 17 percent. Hospitalization and Medical Services company have requested for the highest individual plan increase, reaching 58.8%, and only one insurer requested for a decrease, Kaiser, which requested an average of -2.7% adjustment for their small groups. These increases are subject to approval by the Maryland Insurance Commissioner and final decisions are only expected by late summer.
