These states include Nebraska, Wyoming, Arizona, Oklahoma, North Carolina and Alaska, which have seen monthly premium rates increase between $411 to $760. These rates have risen between 9% to 116% from the rates in 2016. These vast increases are due to minimal insurer participating in Obamacare, as well as servicing residents of rural communities. Furthermore, these rate increases are due to healthier individuals not enrolling in the program while sick patients are, resulting in larger costs for the insurers.
